Quinn Meadows and Cascade Lakes Highway Trailheads

Along with structure protection for Elk Lake recreation residences, the Guard Station and the Lodge, firefighters have continued to do hazardous fuels mitigation work (clearing brush, forest litter, trimming branches, etc) around Quinn Meadow Horse Camp. The log structure at the horse camp have been wrapped in aluminum fire shields to protect them from being impacted by radiant heat, as have the historic structures at Elk Lake. Some clearing has also taken place around the corrals.

Additionally, firefighters continue working to make a fuel break at Cascade Lakes Highway, which has included some mitigation around trailheads that can be accessed from the highway. This allows firefighters to have an option for indirect attack if the Nash Fire moves southeast.
